Southern Expressway

Project overview:

As part of the duplication of the Southern Expressway, the existing SA Water main was required to be relocated to accommodate for the roadway expansion. The relocation of the water main needed to be completed whilst still maintaining water supply and traffic flows on the roadway. The project proved challenging due to the road and shale conditions encountered

Description of work:

SADB were engaged by DPTI, works completed included;

• Install a 500mm PE sleeve along the roadway for 220 metres
• Installed via HDD the 300mm water main was then inserted with HDD inside the sleeve
• On the completion of the insertion of the main, SADB undertook a live tap cross over to provide water supply and decommission to the existing main
